WARM WELCOME

The Filshie Foyer is a bright, spacious area that’s perfect for event registration, as well as making an excellent backdrop for exhibitions, presentations and lunches.

It’s named after Mr Marcus Filshie, a renowned gynaecologist at both City Hospital and QMC, for his significant contribution to birth control worldwide. His groundbreaking Filshie Clip has helped thousands of women all over the world to avoid unplanned pregnancies, putting them in control of their heath and wellbeing.

THE GREEN ROOM (LOUNGE)

OPEN SPACE

Accommodating up to 120 people, the redesigned Green Room is a bright, flexible space ideal for catering and informal events.

Set at the front of the building, it’s also an excellent exhibition space, offering over [X]m2 of floor space, as well as a range of exhibition stands. Our team will be happy to maximise the potential of the space and help you create an exhibition with real impact.

With its café, break-out areas and waiting area, the Green Room also enables you to easily offer your guests refreshments.

It is named after Dr Des Green who will be remembered by generations of trainees who passed through the Nottingham radiology training scheme as a source of practical advice and encouragement. He was Chairman of the City Hospital Post-Graduate Education Centre.

LECTURE THEATRE

INSPIRING SPACE

The Sir Peter Mansfield Lecture Theatre is a purpose-built, completely refurbished, tiered auditorium with fixed seating for 150 delegates. It’s wheelchair accessible and available for evening and weekend hire, as well as throughout the week.

The lecture theatre is named after Sir Peter Mansfield, pioneer of MRI scanning and co-winner of the Nobel Prize in 2003. MRI has revolutionised medicine and Sir Peter is credited with showing how its radio signals can be turned into useful diagnostic images.

ROOMS

FLEXIBLE SPACES

Our flexible, modern workspaces are ideal for meetings, conferences, training and exhibitions for between 10 and 150 people. They’re available in the day and evening, with AV and IT connectivity, refreshments and expert support.

Each room is named after a healthcare pioneer. They were chosen by Dr Suresh Patel, a highly respected retired GP and member of the ECC’s Council, and voted for by our staff.

Blamey (Room 2)

The Blamey room is named after Professor Roger Blamey, a breast surgeon at City Hospital. In 1982, his research resulted in the publication of the Nottingham Prognostic Index (NPI) which is now the predictive index used all over the world to guide the best combination of surgery and other therapies and as a basis for discussing choices with patients.

Professor Blamey established one of the country’s first breast screening programmes in Nottingham, building such a strong reputation that Nottingham became the leading training centre for the national screening programme introduced in 1988.

Technical expertise

Our expert audio-visual technician offers a whole range of services to help you engage your audience. We can develop PowerPoint presentations, film your event and publish professional DVDs. We’re also able to arrange video conferencing. Daily rate is £235 + VAT.  Please contact the Conference & Operations Manager for further details.

PowerPoint

Save time and create visual impact with our professional PowerPoint presentation development service. Provide us with your text, graphics, audio, video and animation and we’ll do the rest. We can also put your presentations on CD-ROM – an easy format for you to use in your presentation.

Video conferencing

The video conference equipment is available in The Dua 3.

Please note that there’s an additional charge of £50 per session for the use of video conference equipment. This charge doesn’t include technician services.

SERVICES AND CHARGES

Refreshments

Tea, coffee and hot chocolate are available (£1.20 from the coin operated machine in the foyer). If you would like to arrange other refreshments or a buffet, please talk to our team when you book. We have an approved catering supplier who we can work with to create exactly what you’re looking for. Catering and refreshments for your guests can be ordered in advance a week before your event.

Car parking

The Centre has parking for 30 cars to the rear of the building. There is a barrier to the car park which is controlled from the PGEC office.

We have a car park behind the building, with spaces available for meeting and event organisers. You can add the charge to your invoice.

Evening meetings

An administrative charge of £36 + VAT per hour is made for evening meetings. Please talk to our Conference & Operations Manager to find out more.

Weekend meetings

We are sometimes able to open the Centre for weekend conferences or meetings, but please talk to our events team well in advance to find out whether this is possible. There’s an additional charge of £360 per hour for security and housekeeping at the weekend, on top of our usual room hire charges. Admin and AV support are charged separately.

Live link to theatres equipment charges

There is an additional charge for the use of the live link to theatres equipment. Please contact the Conference & Operations Manager if you wish to use this facility.

TERMS AND

CONDITIONS

Meeting room charges apply to:

  • Meetings which have attendees coming who are external to the Trust (outside NUHT)
  • Meetings for which there is a registration fee
  • Meetings which are sponsored by pharmaceutical reps in any way
  • Meetings which have external funding

Self-help groups, support groups and charities may be offered a reduction at the discretion of the Centre Council.

VAT will be charged at the standard rate on the total bill where appropriate.

All prices are inclusive of use of audio-visual aids. (Room charges are used to refurbish and improve the Centre, update AV aids and enhance the delivery of postgraduate medical education throughout the Trust.)

Loss or damage

We don’t accept any responsibility or liability for damage or loss of goods, articles or property brought into or left at the Centre. 

Other electrical equipment

Please don’t use any electrical equipment in the rooms unless it’s been approved by our team and/or PAT tested.

Logistics

When your event is over, please leave your room as you found it, with the furniture in its original arrangement, otherwise we may have to make a charge for our logistics team to rearrange it.

Centre opening hours

The Education & Conference Centre is open Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.  However, although we can make special arrangements for evening meetings.

Cancellation charges

If you cancel your booking more than four weeks in advance there is no charge. If you cancel less than 4 weeks in advance or do not arrive on the day, a cancellation charge will be applicable:

If for any reason the room you’ve booked can’t be used, we reserve the right to provide an alternative.
