The Education & Conference Centre at the City is the perfect place to think, learn, discuss and be inspired. It’s an exceptional setting for medical, pharmaceutical, surgical and GP training.

We have a wealth of technology, live links to operating rooms, cutting-edge equipment and flexible spaces.

There’s also the opportunity to learn within our National Repository and Surgical Training Centre, or high-spec Clinical Skills and Competency Centre, with advanced courses in both invasive and keyhole surgery.

F1/F2 Teaching

Protected teaching time is an important part of Foundation training and education. It is critically important that Foundation doctors recognise that they have professional and personal responsibility for their own learning. This includes attending structured educational sessions and undertaking Supervised Learning Events (SLEs) wherever possible. It is important that you are punctual, sign the register and at the end of the session to provide feedback on the forms provided to enable the trainers to make appropriate adjustments.

Teaching takes place on a regular basis at the Education and Conference Centres.

  • F1 weekly
  • F2 fortnightly

The programme covers topic outlined in the curriculum and all the major specialities. Our Foundation Programme Co-ordinators will hold your bleep and take messages whilst you are in teaching.

In the Trust’s contract with the East Midlands Healthcare Workforce Deanery, it is a requirement that you attend 100% of the sessions, other than when you are on nights, annual leave or sick leave with a 70% actual attendance and 30% authorised non-attendance split.

The FP Reference Guide, Curriculum and updates can be found on the national website.
